About The Position

The Intern, Warehouse Optimization supports supply chain operations at KB Signaling’s Warrensburg, Missouri, site. Depending on business needs, the intern may assist production planning, material planning, and scheduling; optimize stranded inventory; improve material lead times; manage shortage escalations; or analyze and report supply chain performance metrics. The role supports production timelines, inventory reduction, cash collection, and on-time delivery in a manufacturing environment.

Requirements

Basic understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP), production scheduling, inventory management, and logistics.
Ability to analyze large datasets, identify trends and shortages, and propose data-driven solutions.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills to manage escalations and collaborate across Production, Material, and Scheduling teams.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel for data analysis using pivot tables and formulas, and PowerPoint.
Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Enrolled in a relevant degree program and entering junior year at minimum.
Minimum GPA of 3.0.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP.

Responsibilities

Partner with Production Planning, Material Planning, and Product Scheduling teams to assist with daily planning operations and schedule execution.
Identify zero-demand stranded inventory and collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate actionable rework plans into production schedules.
Use material availability tools to identify bottlenecks and improve lead times for “D” parts, supporting cash collection initiatives.
Identify material shortages and assist with escalations for upcoming manufactured (“Make”) parts that fall outside normal planning windows.
Compile, analyze, and report supply chain performance metrics to identify process improvement opportunities.
