About The Position
Corning is a world leader in glass, ceramic, and materials science, known for pushing the boundaries of what's possible. The Manufacturing, Technology and Engineering (MTE) division is recognized for engineering excellence and innovative manufacturing technologies. MTE partners with Corning's businesses and the Science & Technology division to create and sustain Corning’s manufacturing as a differential advantage. This Summer 2027 Intern position involves working independently and in cross-functional teams on the design, engineering, procurement, installation, start-up, commissioning, and handover of mechanical systems. These systems include Batch Delivery Systems, Melting Systems, Thermal Process Services, and Thermal Equipment Design.
Requirements
- Capable of domestic travel
- Junior in bachelor’s Mechanical Engineering program or higher
Nice To Haves
- Prior Industrial or Intern experience
- Demonstrated Project Management experience
- Computer (Microsoft Office) experience
- CAD (Solidworks) experience
- Maturity, common sense and practicality
- Organized and methodical
Responsibilities
- Create or document design basis requirements
- Design mechanical components and assemblies
- Manage project documentation
- Specify or otherwise identify commercially available equipment/system components
