About The Position

South32 seeks to hire a mine services intern to support the development of the Hermosa Taylor Project. This position is based at the Hermosa Project site, near Patagonia, Arizona. This role will be within the technical services team supporting mine services. The project is early execution with ongoing engineering efforts to prepare for mining operations. Other key responsibilities include, but aren't limited to:

Requirements

• Actively enrolled and in in mining or mechanical engineering program.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs required.
• Ability to uphold workplace safety and ability to abide by South32's policies and procedures.
• Demonstrated interest in Mine Engineering, or related field and have a strong desire to advance skills related to South32 and the Hermosa project.
• Detailed oriented.
• Demonstrated commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques.
• Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas professionally.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to take direction from leadership, mentors and managers.
• Authorization to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

• Assist with strategy and design of UG dewatering system
• Explore options for solids separation and handling for water management
• Analyze what-if scenarios for UG water management and pumping
• Assist with ventilation modeling using Ventsim software
• Perform ventilation surveys
• Assist in updating heat load model with latest data
