About The Position

This internship opportunity is available for the Summer of 2027 with the AES Indiana Substation Engineering team. The position will provide the Intern with engineering experience related to substation design and system protection. Substation Engineering Interns will collaborate with staff engineers to facilitate substation engineering analysis and design work concerning system protection and substation infrastructure. The substation engineering department is responsible for the design of substation facilities and relay protection of all equipment on AES Indiana transmission and distribution systems. Substation Interns will be assigned project work to offer valuable engineering experience and to assist staff engineers with their substation projects. The Intern may be expected to complete additional assignments as determined by their supervisor.

Requirements

  • A student pursuing a four-year degree in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering Technology.

Nice To Haves

  • An academic standing of Sophomore status or higher is preferred.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Organization and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs - especially Excel and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a team along with staff engineers to facilitate substation engineering analysis and design work related to system protection and substation infrastructure.
  • Assist staff engineers with their substation projects.
  • Complete additional assignments as determined by their supervisor.
