About The Position

The Planning, Development and Building department is responsible for the planning and delivery of growth activities, including long range land use planning, the City’s long-term infrastructure plan, the management of capital investments, development approvals, delivering on major city-building projects and identifying opportunities to foster economic prosperity. This job is exclusively for students who are enrolled in a recognized post-secondary education or internship program. You are responsible for performing various activities associated with the support of planning activities, including conducting surveys, research, data analysis, and preparing documents.

Requirements

  • Enrolment in a recognized post-secondary education or internship program in one of the following: urban planning, environmental studies, or related field
  • No experience required
  • Familiarity with general land use planning principles
  • Knowledge of word processing, spread sheets, GIS, interpreting air photos and maps, and a familiarity with reading plans
  • Analytical and research techniques
  • Ability to work both independently and as a member of a team, and to quickly adjust from one project to another
  • Attention to detail

  • English oral, reading, writing
