About The Position

McCormick Taylor, Inc. is a full-service professional services consulting firm providing design, planning, and environmental solutions. The Structures Intern will work with experienced engineers and project managers, gaining exposure to engineering challenges in the structures discipline and highway engineering software. The intern will assist with urban and rural highway and transportation projects involving structural elements and perform structural engineering calculations. Full-time or part-time schedules may be available based on the candidate’s course load, at one of the company’s office locations.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in and working toward a bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management.
• Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of CAD and the Microsoft Office 365 Suite.

Responsibilities

• Work with experienced engineers and project managers.
• Gain exposure to engineering challenges in the structures discipline.
• Gain exposure to highway engineering software, including MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Assist staff with urban and rural highway and transportation projects involving bridges, box culverts, retaining walls, and moment slabs.
• Perform structural engineering calculations.
