About The Position

The Software Engineer Summer Internship is a 12-week programme starting in June 2027, based in the Optimisation Core Technology Team within LSEG’s Post Trade Engineering division. Interns work on real projects alongside experienced engineers and collaborate with the Product Development team to enhance services using client feedback, analysis of runs, and strategic initiatives. The Core Technology team builds systems that securely receive clients’ risk and trade data, pass it to optimisation services, and return computation results safely and promptly. The systems also provide feedback to help clients understand results and improve future inputs. The applications run in AWS and use technologies including Lambda, EC2, RDS, and Redshift. The successful candidate will join a team of 5–10 engineers to build and research improvements to applications and the environment. Potential projects include developing Python software for data-quality workflows, using pricing algorithms in data-quality checks, building internal optimisation portal screens, connecting to external booking systems and trade stores, and improving task queueing and resource utilisation. LSEG seeks candidates interested in financial engineering and learning about the breadth of its business. The internship includes a technical and coding assessment, an untimed immersive online assessment, a strength-based video interview, and a virtual half-day assessment centre. Applications close on 30 November; candidates are considered on a rolling basis and applications may close early. Applicants should submit only one application, as only the first application will be reviewed.
