About The Position

The World Trade Center Department is looking for a Social Media & Video intern to join its Marketing team! As a Social Media & Video Intern, you will work closely with our team to assist in capturing, editing, and producing high-quality visual content for various projects. This role offers a unique opportunity to use and practice your photography skills and video production techniques, editing software, and creative storytelling. All content created during the internship is the sole property of the Port Authority and may not be sold, reproduced, or distributed without prior written approval. Some content may involve protected intellectual property, such as the World Trade Center Oculus and One World Trade Center, requiring strict adherence to licensing agreements.

Requirements

Enrollment at a college or university at the time of the internship
Experience with Microsoft apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, etc.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Interest in contributing to the success of the New York and New Jersey region.
Interest in public service and/or transportation
Excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines efficiently.
Willingness to learn.
Strong passion for photography, videography, and visual storytelling, with a creative eye for composition, lighting, and aesthetics.
Proficiency in photography and video editing software, such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Premiere Pro) or native social media content creation.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with coworkers.
Previous experience with photography, videography, or editing software is required
Flexibility in your schedule so you can attend events and project requests outside of standard operating hours
Reliable, responsible, works well with others, positive attitude, self-starter & proactive.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with social media content creation tools and native app editing features.

Responsibilities

Shoot high-quality photos and videos via iPhone and a Canon EOS R10/DSLR for social media campaigns, events, B-roll, interviews, and promotional content with an emphasis on footage built for platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
Edit and produce polished, platform-ready video content using Adobe Premiere Pro, CapCut, or similar software including cuts, transitions, captions, motion graphics, and sound design tailored to each platform's format and audience.
Edit and enhance raw photos using Adobe Photoshop and meet brand aesthetic and storytelling standards.
Translate raw footage into finished social-ready assets (Reels, Stories, short-form video, carousels, etc.) that align with brand voice and messaging.
Monitor emerging social media trends, sounds, formats, and platform features daily, flagging relevant opportunities for real-time content creation.
Organize and manage media files including sorting, labeling, and archiving raw and edited assets to maintain an efficient, easy-to-navigate content library.
Partner with the marketing team to brainstorm and execute video/content concepts that align with campaign goals and brand identity.
Review edited photos and videos for accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand and project guidelines before publishing.
Help coordinate photo/video shoots, including scheduling, shot lists, and on-site capture logistics.
Support the rollout of content across social platforms, websites, and marketing materials to maximize engagement and reach.
Provide additional support to the WTCD as needed, including on-site event coverage, social media support, and marketing campaign assistance.
