About The Position

Baird’s Operations Department (“Ops”) plays a critical role in the success and growth of the firm, partnering with various business functions to drive efficiencies and reduce risk. The Securities Processing team is essential in safeguarding client assets through the receipt, transfer, registration, and maintenance of physical and electronic securities. This team collaborates closely with branches, transfer agents, custodians, and other Operations teams to ensure accurate and timely processing of securities transactions. This internship requires full-time work during the summer (37.5-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday) and part-time work during school semesters (15-20 hours per week) in our downtown Milwaukee, WI office. We are seeking a local student who can start January 2027 or earlier.

Requirements

• Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics or related degree preferred
• Anticipated graduation date of May 2028 or later
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively as a team player
• Positive attitude, proactive in seeking additional work and strong initiative
• Detail oriented and exhibits organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
• Strong client service, critical thinking and troubleshooting skills

Responsibilities

• Assist in processing and clearing physical stock as well as book entry shares
• Support the receipt, review and maintenance of physical stock certificates and related documentation
• Learn how securities move through the financial system, including interactions with transfer agents, depositories and custodians
• Research and resolve exceptions while ensuring transactions are processed accurately and efficiently
• Gain exposure to brokerage operations, risk management practices and regulatory requirements
• Participate in daily team meetings and collaborate across the firm to help ensure highly efficient customer service
• Work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
• Receive firsthand mentoring and training
