About The Position

Sample Supports is seeking motivated undergraduate students who want hands-on experience in residential services, case coordination, quality assurance, compliance, and community-based support for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This internship is a great fit for students studying social work, psychology, healthcare administration, human services, or another helping profession. You will work alongside experienced residential professionals while building practical skills that can prepare you for a future career in human services. Sample Supports provides person-centered services that help individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities build independence, meaningful relationships, and fulfilling lives in their communities. Requirements

• Students currently enrolled in a bachelor’s degree program related to: Human services, Social work, Psychology or sociology, Counseling or behavioral health, Nursing or public health, Healthcare administration, Special education or disability studies, Another related field
• Interest in supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Professional, reliable, and able to maintain confidentiality
• Willingness to learn, receive feedback, and participate in supervision
• Ability to follow written instructions and complete assigned tasks
• Commitment to respectful, person-centered services
• Ability to pass required background checks
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation when required by the assignment
• CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to complete certification
• Mandatory Reporter training, which may be completed during the internship
• Ability to meet the physical and safety requirements of assigned internship activities

Responsibilities

• Assist with quality-assurance reviews and documentation audits
• Support compliance monitoring for Medicaid and state requirements
• Help organize individual records, training documentation, incident reports, and compliance materials
• Participate in residential visits and provider-support activities
• Assist with residential assessments and health and safety monitoring
• Attend interdisciplinary meetings and case discussions
• Communicate professionally with individuals, providers, families, guardians, and team members
• Learn about Host Home, Family Caregiver, PCA, and supported apartment services
• Observe and report health, safety, documentation, or compliance concerns
• Build professional relationships with residential providers and community partners
• Gain limited exposure to direct services to better understand residential programming
• Maintain confidentiality, professional boundaries, and HIPAA standards
• Complete other internship projects based on learning goals and program needs
