About The Position

This engineering internship position will provide direct support to the Dominion Energy Power Generation Renewable Energy group. This group manages Dominion’s entire solar fleet totaling more than 2,500 megawatts in 10 states. This position utilizes engineering fundamentals to analyze site performance and identify opportunities across our fleet to improve production. Candidates should be accustomed to verifying their results and producing high quality work within a short timeframe. In addition to engineering analyses, some of the assignments may require technical writing, preparing presentations and speaking in front of other employees and leaders. It will be necessary to periodically work outside and visit solar sites to initially learn the role and support the technical staff in troubleshooting problems. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.

Requirements

  • Solid engineering skills commensurate with grade level.
  • Understanding of fundamental theories and principles.
  • Good understanding or ability to learn various computer application skills including Microsoft Office products, Tableau, Alteryx and PI systems.
  • Strong oral, interpersonal and written communication skills including technical writing.
  • Self-motivator who is comfortable with working independently but also has the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to think analytically and solve complex problems.
  • Comfortable with learning how to interpret technical literature such as national codes, regulations and policies.
  • Comfortable with updating technical standards and material specifications.
  • Good professional ethics.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Enrolled in a 4-year engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program based on the year that the engineering program was accredited by ABET.
  • Students should have a graduation date of spring 2028 or later.
  • Must have a 2.5 GPA or greater.

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical or Electrical Engineering is preferred.
