About The Position

Labcorp is seeking an Oncology Medical Affairs Intern to join our Oncology Medical Team located in Durham, NC. This is an 11-week paid internship program designed for students to work on impactful projects and gain real-world experience. The Medical Affairs team serves as the scientific and clinical bridge between Labcorp Oncology's diagnostic testing portfolio and healthcare professionals, researchers, and industry partners. The intern will gain exposure to the intersection of science, medicine, diagnostics, and healthcare strategy while contributing to meaningful projects that support innovative cancer care solutions. The program includes enterprise-wide learning experiences, leadership exposure, an immersive intern event, senior leader speaker sessions, continuous connection and growth opportunities, engagement with employee resource groups, and dedicated mentoring.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor's, Master's, PharmD, PhD, MD, program with a focus in Biology, Biomedical Sciences, Public Health, Genetics, Pharmacy, or Medicine
  • 3-6 months previous internship, research, clinical, or laboratory experience
  • Interest in oncology, molecular diagnostics, precision medicine, or Medical Affairs.
  • Maintains professionalism, including punctuality, accountability, and appropriate conduct in a corporate healthcare environment.
  • Exhibits strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing scientific literature, preparing materials, and completing assigned projects.
  • Shows initiative, intellectual curiosity, and a willingness to learn new scientific concepts, technologies, and business processes.
  • Works effectively both independently and as part of a cross-functional team under general supervision.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with internal stakeholders.
  • Actively participates in training and development opportunities and applies newly acquired knowledge to assigned responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years of undergraduate coursework completed by the start of the internship.
  • 1 year experience reviewing scientific literature, conducting research, or analyzing data in an academic or laboratory setting.
  • 1 year experience with scientific publications, poster presentations, or medical communications.

Responsibilities

  • Support medical and scientific projects by conducting literature reviews, summarizing clinical evidence, and assisting in the development of scientific materials, presentations, and educational resources for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with Medical Affairs operations and insights gathering by helping track scientific congress activities, competitive intelligence, and customer feedback to identify emerging trends relevant to oncology diagnostics and precision medicine.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Medical Affairs, Commercial, Research, and Market Access to support ongoing initiatives, gain exposure to diagnostic development and implementation, and contribute to special projects that advance organizational objectives.
