NextCure is seeking a dedicated Summer Intern to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will assist in the cultivation and maintenance of monoclonal antibody-producing cell lines, contributing to the development and production of therapeutic antibodies in our laboratory.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a PhD degree program in Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Biology or a related field.
  • Familiarity with aseptic technique and cell culture practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions accurately.
  • Willingness to learn new techniques and adapt to changing project requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Enrollment and/or experience at Johns Hopkins preferred.
  • Previous laboratory experience is highly desirable.
  • Automation/robotics experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Cultivate and maintain mammalian cell lines for monoclonal antibody production.
  • Perform aseptic cell culture techniques such as passaging, seeding, and harvesting cells.
  • Conduct routine cell culture assays to monitor cell viability, growth, and productivity.
  • Assist in the scale-up of cell culture processes from small-scale to large-scale production.
  • Prepare and sterilize laboratory equipment and materials for cell culture experiments.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot cell culture issues and implement process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of experimental procedures, results, and observations.
