About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Intern to join our Microbiology Team located in Indianapolis, IN. This is an 11-week paid internship from June 1, 2027, to August 13, 2027. As a Labcorp intern, you’ll be immersed in hands-on work that complements your academic background. In addition to your project work, you’ll gain valuable exposure to Labcorp’s global business, culture, and leadership through enterprise-wide learning experiences, leadership exposure, an immersive in-person intern event, senior leader speaker sessions, continuous opportunities to connect and grow, and connection to Labcorp’s inclusive culture. Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a scientific Bachelor’s degree program in Biology or Microbiology
  • Interest in biology, microbiology or related lab sciences
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and willingness to follow laboratory procedures
  • Eagerness to learn new laboratory skills and scientific concepts
  • Show initiative and the ability to work independently under general supervision
  • Have a genuine interest in laboratory science
  • Maintains professionalism, including punctuality and appropriate conduct
  • Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Actively participates in training sessions and applies newly learned skills accordingly

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred candidates are rising juniors and seniors (Dec 2027 through June 2029 graduation) who are currently enrolled in a relevant degree program; however, all current students pursuing related studies are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Perform laboratory testing on patient specimens in accordance with established procedures and quality standards.
  • Analyze test results and utilize independent judgment to generate accurate and reliable results within established quality control requirements.
  • Maintain testing records, documentation, and laboratory data in accordance with regulatory and departmental requirements.
  • Perform all assigned duties in compliance with standard operating procedures (SOPs), laboratory policies, and quality guidelines.
  • Participate in research and development activities as assigned.
  • Assist with the development, evaluation, and modification of laboratory procedures and processes.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives and contribute to operational excellence within the laboratory.
  • Collaborate with laboratory personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of testing activities.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by laboratory management or the Laboratory Director.
