About The Position

This is a Master's level clinical internship position. A stipend is offered. The intern will adhere to FSA policies, rules, and standards of practices, as well as all applicable ethical codes (NASW and ACA). The intern will complete necessary employee onboarding, establish a learning agreement with their Field Instructor, identify learning objectives, create a schedule, and participate in evaluations. They will adhere to the field placement schedule, notify their Field Instructor of any changes or unavoidable absences, and complete assigned tasks which may include direct client interactions, documentation, and projects. The intern will work with collaterals on behalf of active clients, including referrals, discharge planning, and advocacy. They will use good judgment to ensure client safety, seek resources, practice self-care, and maintain client confidentiality under HIPAA. The internship involves administrative duties such as maintaining field hour records, completing paperwork for cases and agency requirements, attending meetings, and participating in the Utilization Review process. Training requirements must be completed, and a log of trainings maintained. Other duties may include assigned projects, business-related travel, participating in the Internship Innovation Fair, promoting collegiality, and maintaining assigned equipment.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in a master’s level program in Social Work, Psychology, or other related field at the time of internship.
Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or other related field.
Must be able to pass an extensive background check.
Effective positive interpersonal communication skills.
Willingness to approach tasks and experiences with a positive attitude, and receive feedback from Field Supervisor.

Responsibilities

Adhere to FSA policies, rules, and standards of practices as well as all applicable ethical codes (NASW and ACA Code of Ethics).
Complete all necessary employee onboarding requirements in a timely manner.
Establish a written learning agreement with Field Instructor.
Identify specific learning objectives and create a consistent schedule as well as evaluation arrangements.
Participate in completing any required internship evaluations or meetings with school.
Adhere to field placement schedule and notify Field Instructor of any changes prior to changes being implemented.
Notify Field Instructor of unavoidable absences or inability to come in at scheduled times.
Complete assigned tasks by Field Supervisor that may include direct client interactions, documentation, and/or completion of an assigned project.
Responsible for working with collaterals on behalf of active clients, including: referral and linkage, discharge planning with in-patient psychiatric facilities, and the advocacy of a client’s rights within the education, legal, state and mental health systems.
Use good judgement in all work to ensure client safety.
Seek out necessary resources and practices effective self-care to enhance performance in all internship duties.
Maintain all client’s confidentiality and rights under the HIPAA law.
Maintain a record of field hours and assigned duties in collaboration with the Field Instructor.
Responsible for completion of and meeting deadlines for all paperwork for cases, including: CIS Billing Notes, Case Closing, and other paperwork necessary or appropriate for maintaining case files.
Responsible for completion of and meeting deadlines for all agency administrative paperwork, including: CIS Billing Notes, expense sheets and any other administrative or agency requested reports.
Responsible for attending staff meetings, clinical meetings and program meetings as assigned by Supervisor.
Responsible for participating in Utilization Review process.
Complete all necessary training requirements based on program assigned.
Maintain log of trainings completed.
Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to the best of Intern’s ability.
Perform incidental business-related travel as needed.
Responsible for participating in the Internship Innovation Fair.
Responsible for promoting collegiality at the workplace by working collaboratively with others.
Responsible for any equipment assigned to be kept free from damage or loss. Any damage or loss of equipment needs to be immediately reported to Supervisor.
