About The Position

The Intern, Manufacturing Engineering will learn to implement manufacturing processes for new and existing product designs and provide production floor support. The intern will work in a team environment with support from full-time Manufacturing Engineers, with an emphasis on CNC machining and assembly of precision firearm components using clearly defined technical drawings and interchangeable parts. This is an internship/co-op for the spring 2027 semester, January through April. Relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

Pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering.
Proficiency with SOLIDWORKS or a similar CAD system.
Good working knowledge of materials and heat-treating processes.
Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
Ability to stay organized, work on a team, and plan and execute multiple projects.
Written and verbal communication skills for complicated subjects.
Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Strong analytical skills, basic manufacturing-process knowledge, and basic project-management skills.
Regular on-site attendance and punctuality.
Ability to comply with required PPE, work-exposure EH&S training, and SIG SAUER security mandates.

Responsibilities

Learn to plan and design manufacturing processes.
Learn to implement manufacturing processes for new and existing firearm product designs and provide budgetary estimates for equipment, tools, gages, and production rates.
Use project management techniques to procure tooling and equipment for new products to meet launch timelines and cost targets.
Learn to evaluate and improve product designs for manufacturability using GD&T and dimensional stack-ups.
Provide production floor support for technical systems and manufacturing processes, including high-volume CNC machining, machine and tool design, assembly, metal finishing, and automation.
Originate and develop new systems and processes and implement them into full production.
Debug and run off new capital equipment to meet plant goals for quality, throughput, and cost.
Recommend and implement alterations and enhancements to improve product quality, procedures, and manufacturing-process output and quality.
Resolve product- and process-related quality issues using statistical methods.
Provide consultation to problem-solving teams and complete assigned tasks within agreed-upon timelines.
Maintain regular on-site attendance and punctuality.
Work in other functional areas and/or facilities as business needs require.
Work overtime or alternate shifts as business needs require.
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
