About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern Position offers candidates an opportunity to work, contribute, and apply academic skills in a corporate setting with industry professionals.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Discipline, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 8 weeks
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and process optimization principles
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing principles and production workflows
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate and interact with employees at all levels of the organization

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate existing manufacturing processes and identify area(s) for improvement.
  • Determine problem resolutions and work with management to implement improvements.
  • Support process optimization initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and improve quality.
  • Collaborate with production on continuous improvement projects and 5S standards for production.
  • Participate in time studies, workflow analysis, and capacity planning.
  • Assist with root cause analyses using tools like 5 Whys, Fishbone diagrams, or Pareto charts.
  • Work closely with production teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues.
  • Participate in shop floor operations and recommend improvements.
  • Help evaluate and improve tooling, fixtures, and equipment layout.
  • Learn and apply engineering principles in a real-world environment.
  • Gain exposure to manufacturing systems, ERP/MES tools, and CAD software.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
