About The Position

The Georgia Department of Community Health (DCH) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Intern, Intake and Triage Unit with the Healthcare Facility Regulation Division. This is a paid internship assignment for a duration of six months. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager of the Intake and Triage Unit. This is a hybrid position that requires in-office and remote work with the approval of the supervisor. The days and frequency in the office can change at any time during employment based on the business needs of the organization. Candidates must respond to all application questions independently, based on their own qualifications and experience. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools or other automated content-generation systems to prepare responses is prohibited and may result in disqualification from consideration.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university AND currently enrolled in a graduate program relevant to the area of assignment.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license, which would enable the applicant to drive in Georgia, and use of a car at work, are required for employees in this job.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in data or statistical analysis, preferably in a healthcare setting
  • Ability to work with highly confidential and sensitive PHI/PII information
  • Proficient in Medicaid and data analysis reporting tools (e.g. Business Objects, Advantage Suite, and/or DataProbe Microsoft Office Suite Applications Medicaid Management Information Systems (MMIS)
  • Currently enrolled in one of the following graduate programs: Healthcare Policy, Healthcare Administration, Nursing

Responsibilities

  • Interact with constituents via the call center
  • Determine appropriate report based on customer’s needs
  • Conduct data entry reviews on each report to ensure reporting and regulatory guidelines are met.
  • Make program related determinations based on State and Federal Regulations
  • Create appropriate triage determinations based on the analysis of severity of reports
  • Support Regional Directors in scheduling onsite inspection/complaint investigations.
  • Verify data and monitor compliance of licensed Healthcare facilities with agency policy and procedures.
  • Work with others to provide strategic analysis.
  • Performs administrative duties and statistical, or compliance data analysis and reporting in support of management decision making in functional area.
