About The Position

The American Bankers Association (ABA) is seeking a motivated intern to join their team. This paid internship offers students the chance to work with a major trade association in Washington, DC, engaging in substantial work across various divisions, connecting with leadership, building a network, and making a difference. The Human Resources & Learning Development Intern will support strategic HR initiatives focused on enhancing employee experience, workforce development, and organizational effectiveness. This role provides hands-on experience in learning and development, benefits research, employee engagement, and program administration, involving collaboration with HR leaders on research, communications, data analysis, and special projects.

Requirements

  • Strong research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Interest in learning and development, employee experience, organizational effectiveness, and emerging workplace technologies.
  • Demonstrated initiative, professionalism, and ability to work independently.
  • Graduate Student (expected graduation date of December 2027 or later required)

  • Human Resources, Organizational Development, Industrial and Organizational Psychology, Education, or Instructional Design preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on employee benefits programs, workforce practices, and administrative models used by organizations across industries.
  • Analyze and summarize findings related to program structures, processes, and service delivery approaches.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and recommendations to support HR decision-making.
  • Assist with data gathering, benchmarking, and environmental scans on emerging HR trends and best practices.
  • Assist with the coordination, administration, and evaluation of organization-wide learning and development programs.
  • Support leadership development, professional development, and employee training initiatives.
  • Help create learning materials, communications, job aids, and participant resources.
  • Monitor program participation, collect feedback, and support reporting on learning outcomes.
  • Assist with employee learning and adoption initiatives related to emerging workplace technologies and AI-enabled tools.
  • Support training logistics, communications, resource development, and participant engagement activities.
  • Conduct research on workplace learning trends and emerging technologies to support employee capability building.
  • Serve as a resource and ambassador for the intern community, helping foster connections and engagement throughout the internship experience.
  • Help gather feedback and identify opportunities to enhance the intern experience.
  • Demonstrate leadership by facilitating collaboration, sharing information, and helping connect interns with resources and opportunities.
  • Assist with special projects and cross-functional HR initiatives.
  • Support communications, presentations, and materials development.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas for improving HR programs and processes.
  • Perform administrative and project coordination activities as needed.
