As a data science intern in the Hockey Strategy and Analytics group, you will be working closely with the analytics team to help build foundational statistical models. Candidates will have the opportunity to gain experience with statistical programming and combine quantitative skills with hockey domain knowledge to assist with hockey operations decision making. The learning objectives for this role include gaining experience and understanding of how data science and statistical modeling are applied within a professional hockey operations environment to inform real-world decision making. You will apply academic knowledge in statistics and programming to real-world hockey research questions spanning player evaluation, roster construction, and in-game strategy. Additionally, you will develop professional communication skills by translating complex analytical findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical hockey operations stakeholders.
