About The Position

This internship focuses on participating in the development and implementation of programs and projects aimed at improving environmental efficiency, employee safety, and equipment ergonomics. The role involves monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on operational safety, environmental, and sustainability metrics. Interns will also contribute to new equipment launch teams, conduct job hazard analyses, personal protective equipment assessments, machine guarding assessments, waste evaluations, and assist with HSE regulatory permitting. The position requires investigating and contributing to the resolution of occupational injuries, environmental incidents, and property loss events, as well as assisting with process safety improvement projects using tools like Six Sigma, Lean, and project management skills. The intern will also participate in implementation and auditing teams to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and ISO14001/OHSAS18001 requirements, and contribute to the development of safety and environmental awareness training and communication materials. Liaison work with HSE, Facilities, Engineering, and other functional disciplines is also a key part of the role.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the development and implementation of beneficial programs/projects aimed at improving environmental efficiency, employee safety, and equipment ergonomics.
  • Monitoring, analyzing, and reporting of operational safety, environmental and sustainability metrics.
  • Participate on new equipment launch teams to complete requirements for HSE, including job hazard analysis, personal protective equipment assessments, machine guarding assessments, waste evaluations and HSE regulatory permitting.
  • Investigate and contribute to the resolution of employee occupational injuries, environmental incidents and property loss events.
  • Assist with process safety improvement projects, including use of six sigma tools, lean, and project management skills as required.
  • Contribute and participate in implementation and auditing teams to ensure OSHA, EPA, and ISO14001 / OHSAS18001 requirements are being met.
  • Development of safety and environmental awareness training, communications material and employee events.
  • Liaison work with HSE, Facilities, Engineering, and other functional disciplines.
