About The Position

Principal's Global Equity team is searching for an Equities Intern for Summer 2027 to join our research team! This candidate will work with a diverse team of portfolio managers and dedicated sector analysts to deliver proprietary research and investment recommendations. The internship provides exposure to the equity investment process, including fundamental research, corporate-access work, and financial modeling. Interns will have the opportunity to research specific stocks, support research analysts in developing investment ideas, and take on special projects to identify potential buy and sell candidates. These projects offer exposure to analyst meetings and company-specific discussions, allowing interns to develop and present their own investment theses. Interns with a quantitative focus will also receive tailored analytical projects. The role involves embedding within the equity research organization through global daily meetings, sector-team discussions, and broader investment forums, and gaining exposure to company management teams, industry experts, and sell-side research professionals. Principal Asset Management, a subsidiary of Principal Financial Group, offers global asset management expertise across a diverse set of traditional and alternative asset classes.

Requirements

Working towards an undergraduate degree in economics, finance, accounting, engineering, business analytics, math, statistics, sciences (with investment coursework), or a related major.
By summer of 2027, will have had courses or experience in security analysis including coursework in equity valuation.
Exposure to equity investments through involvement in student organizations or work experiences.
Demonstrated ability to leverage AI-enabled research tools (including agentic AI and coworking tools) to enhance idea generation, due diligence, analysis, and investment decision-making.
Availability to work fulltime, onsite in Des Moines, IA or New York City, NY during the summer of 2027.
Must be available to work onsite in Des Moines, IA or New York City, NY.
