About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Verification Intern to join their IP Design team. This internship offers hands-on experience in developing IP verification environments and AI tools to enhance verification productivity. The role is ideal for someone with design/development career aspirations who can work part-time (up to 25 hours per week) while completing their degree program. The Data Center Solutions (DCS) business unit focuses on cutting-edge server/storage OEMs and hyperscale datacenters, with products including SAS/PCIe/NVMe/CXL, Flash Controllers, High Performance Switches, RAID Controllers, and Memory Controllers.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an Electrical and/or Computer Engineering degree program and has reached the Senior level, or actively pursuing post-graduate studies in a related discipline.
  • Courses in digital design, computer architecture a must.
  • Digital design projects using Verilog/System Verilog.
  • Good programming / scripting skills with languages such as TCL, Python and Perl.
  • Excellent analytical, communication (written and verbal), and documentation skills.
  • Excellent problem solving and debugging skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Verilog, System Verilog, with UVM as a career growth opportunity.
  • Exposure to advances in Artificial Intelligence and how AI is applied to design and/or process improvement would be a plus but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Write and maintain testbenches using industry-standard verification languages (e.g., System Verilog, UVM).
  • Analyze simulation results, identify issues, and collaborate with design engineers to resolve them.
  • Contribute to the development of automated verification environments and scripts.
  • Help design, implement, and integrate AI-based tools and workflows to enhance verification efficiency and productivity.
  • Research and evaluate new AI technologies and methodologies applicable to ASIC verification.
  • Participate in team meetings and technical reviews.
