About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an Intern Engineer (Test) to join the Analog Power and Interface Division (APID) business unit. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in semiconductor test development, characterization, data analysis, hardware design, and automated test equipment (ATE). The intern will support the development and production testing of analog and mixed-signal semiconductor products, learning industry-standard practices for validating and testing integrated circuits such as Buck and boost regulators, LDO regulators, CAN/LIN interface devices, Power management ICs, and Mixed-signal and embedded devices. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a BS or MS degree in: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a Related Engineering Discipline.
  • Basic understanding of semiconductor fundamentals, analog circuits, and electronic measurements.
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment and test techniques.
  • Basic programming experience in one or more of the following: Python, C/C++, MATLAB.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in developing production and characterization test solutions for analog and mixed-signal products.
  • Support creation and review of device test plans and electrical test requirements.
  • Participate in debug activities on first silicon and engineering samples.
  • Help document test procedures and characterization methodologies.
  • Support hardware bring-up and debug activities.
  • Perform bench measurements using laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes/digital multimeters/power supplies/signal generators among others).
  • Support in developing scripts/software utilities to automate testing.
  • Assist in maintaining and enhancing automated test programs.
  • Support data logging and report generation activities.
  • Execute characterization experiments under engineer supervision.
  • Analyze electrical performance data.
  • Generate plots, summaries, and engineering reports.
  • Help identify yield, correlation, and performance trends.
  • Assist in test program validation and release activities.
