About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an Engineering Intern to join their Reliability Engineering team. This role offers a unique opportunity to learn and develop a working knowledge of Reliability programs within a global organization. The intern will assist with daily activities, including maintaining compliance with handling, documentation, ESD compliance, and tester operation and verification. The position is based in Chandler, Arizona, and the ideal candidate will have a technical background in computer science. The intern will be involved in developing and maintaining software tools, writing scripts, compiling data, and creating programs for data assessment. Some circuit background and experience with MS Office applications may also be required. The role involves assisting senior team members, collecting and analyzing data, interacting with other departments, presenting findings, and contributing to automation processes. This position has the potential for direct hire after graduation.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in Bachelor's or Master's degree program
  • Background in programming (Computer Science major or similar)
  • Firm grasp of basic programming principles
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following: Python, Rust, C#, C
  • Able to work independently (self-directed)
  • Able to communicate with all levels of the organization including technicians, specialists, engineers, and senior managers
  • Able to organize, plan, and manage numerous multidisciplinary projects while meeting deadlines and department objectives
  • Able to follow written specs and verbal guidance
  • Able to effectively communicate across functional departments and contractors

Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily activities to maintain compliance with handling/documentation/ESD compliance/tester operation and verification.
  • Develop and maintain software tools, including writing scripts and compiling data.
  • Create programs to assess data.
  • Assist senior members of the Reliability team with day-to-day tasks.
  • Collect and analyze data.
  • Interact with other departments to gather data.
  • Present findings.
  • Help share the workload and streamline automation processes.
  • Support ESD analysis.
  • Work alongside other programmers as a team to develop systems.
  • Admin work may be required, which could include filing and shipping.
