About The Position

Microchip Technology Inc. is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Intern for the Summer of 2026 to become a member of the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Team. The candidate will be based at the Colorado Springs Facility. Candidate must use available housing accommodations to qualify.

Requirements

Actively enrolled with two years of college complete with an environmental health & safety, environmental science, environmental engineering, or chemical engineering major.
Knowledge of EH&S regulations and PFAS preferred.
Well versed in communication skill to work with other organizations
Proficiency with MS Office suite.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and assist the site environmental, health and safety regulatory compliance activities.
Monitor hazardous materials usage, storage and disposal.
Perform inspections of chemical/gas storage areas, waste storage areas, wastewater treatment facilities, etc.
Inspect equipment and review process specifications for compliance with applicable federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
Devise modifications to new and existing equipment and processes to improve environmental, health and safety conditions.
Work with the team on hazard identification, evaluation and control and appropriate risk assessments and mitigation.
Perform calibration, preventive maintenance, and inspection of EHS equipment.
Help conduct compliance evaluations and calculations for numerous Environmental Programs.
Assist in the implementation of recycling waste streams.
Update Safety Data Sheet database and chemical safety label compliance.
