This internship offers the opportunity to assist senior engineers with design, development, and optimization of embedded software systems and AI models, with a focus on optimization for resource-constrained hardware. The role involves supporting AI model inference and training on embedded platforms, utilizing decentralized and distributed training methodologies, and supporting a software stack for both inference and training processes. Interns will learn from and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve product performance and aid in monitoring and analyzing equipment behavior using AI-driven approaches to detect anomalies in utility and metering systems.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a related degree program (preference for hardware, firmware, electrical, and/or advanced coursework in software)
- Exposure to embedded systems
- Intermediate programming abilities in languages such as C, C++, and Python for embedded systems
- Strong mathematical skills (preference, linear algebra, calculus, probability, and statistics)
- Able to work onsite at Itron's San Jose office
- Professional workplace communication skills
Nice To Haves
- Previous academic or work experience on projects related to AI and/or embedded systems
- Understanding of machine learning
Responsibilities
