About The Position

The City of Bowie is seeking a part-time Intern to work in its Economic Development Division. This internship is designed for undergraduate or graduate students in fields such as business administration, marketing, public administration, planning, or geography. The role offers an opportunity to gain experience in a professional, public sector office environment. The schedule is flexible to accommodate the student's academic commitments. Tasks can be tailored in collaboration with the intern, their institution, and the supervisor to focus on specific skills or practical implementation matters, maximizing the learning experience. This position is expected to last no more than six months but may be extended through May/June 2027.

Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Currently enrolled college student

Responsibilities

• Update the business inventory to include field checking
• Use AI to convert data from one format to another
• Conduct direct business outreach to assess current business development issues
• Design and administer a telephone survey
• Update selected information publications (research and write)
• Retail Opportunities
