About The Position

The ECLSS Technician Intern will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, chemists, and technicians supporting NASA missions with a strong emphasis on teamwork, safety, and hands-on learning. This position provides practical experience contributing to Environmental Control and Life Support Systems (ECLSS) for the International Space Station (ISS) and future human exploration missions. The selected candidate will support the ES62/ECLSS team in day-to-day activities associated with maintaining, modifying, and operating development hardware, test equipment, test stands, and ground support systems. Working under the guidance of senior technicians, the intern will gain exposure to ECLSS, Advanced Exploration Systems (AES), and Life Support Systems (LSS) technologies. This internship is designed as a 3-month work opportunity. Requirements

  • Candidates should be enrolled in an accredited college or university in engineering, a technical field, or a related discipline.
  • The selected candidate must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and successfully complete a company defensive driving training course.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or prior training in engineering or technical subjects is desired.
  • Basic understanding of thermal/fluid components, systems, and instrumentation
  • Introductory knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems
  • Ability to safely use a range of hand tools, ladders, portable elevated work platforms, and stairs
  • Interest or experience assembling or modifying laboratory or test equipment
  • Exposure to developing or following test procedures
  • Willingness to work in confined or uneven spaces within ECLSS Development Branch simulators
  • Ability to maintain required ECLSS Development Branch safety certifications
  • Comfortable working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support testing activities for NASA programs
  • Familiarity with testing equipment, instrumentation, or laboratory setups is beneficial but not required
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills

Responsibilities
