About The Position

The Intern – Development will report to the Vice President of Acquisitions and provide support to the National Expansion Department. This role will assist with market research, site identification, and preliminary due diligence efforts related to affordable housing development opportunities, with an initial focus on Florida and Texas.

Requirements

  • Current college student or recent graduate in Real Estate, Urban Planning, Business, Finance, Public Administration, or related field.
  • Strong research and organizational skills.
  • Professional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
  • Interest in real estate development and affordable housing.
  • Operate computer and office equipment
  • Work is primarily sedentary in nature

Responsibilities

  • Assist the National Expansion Department with identifying potential land acquisition opportunities, primarily in Florida and in Texas.
  • Research available sites that align with department goals and development criteria.
  • Contact local planning, zoning, and development departments to confirm site requirements, including: Zoning Permitted uses Density Height limits Other applicable development standards
  • Organize and track site search activity, outreach efforts, and findings.
  • Prepare summaries of potential opportunities for review by the development team.
  • Participate in regular meetings with the Director of Development to review search criteria, priorities, and assignments.
  • Ask questions and seek clarification to ensure a clear understanding of site selection requirements.
