About The Position

The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides college students with hands-on experience in various facets of a non-profit, voluntary health organization. This internship is with the Development Team, supporting the Go Red and Heart Ball and Heart Walk events. Interns will play a key role in driving the success of these impactful campaigns through a variety of tasks related to planning, execution, and follow-up. The Association offers resources for work-life harmonization, including the corporate university Heart U, and local/national training and support. Requirements

  • Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, marketing, event planning, non-profit management, public relations, or a related field are preferred.
  • Must be comfortable with vendor outreach (phone calls & emails to vendors & donors).
  • Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
  • Experience with event planning.
  • Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
  • Proficient in multiple social media platforms preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
  • Intermediate to excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and Canva.
  • Experience in Salesforce is a plus.
  • Reliable WiFi Connection and reliable transportation.
  • Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.
  • For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the development and implementation of fundraising activities, logistics, and administrative support for the Dayton market.
  • Working with Event Coordinators, Development Directors, and Market Leadership to support fundraising campaigns, Go Red for Women, Heart Walk, and Heart Ball.
  • Assisting with pre-campaign planning, day-of-event execution, and post-campaign wrap-up projects.
  • Executing external calls and emails to donors, volunteers, and 3rd party vendors.
  • Working within event support systems such as Luminate and Tableau to help manage data entry and run reports.
  • Developing and updating marketing materials for campaigns including save the dates, invitations, social media posts, volunteer rosters, and other needed collateral to assist in campaign promotion.
  • Assisting with volunteer management including prepping for and attending externally facing meetings (both in-person and virtual).
  • Conducting prospect research to generate new leads and compile information for fundraising campaigns.
  • Supporting Hands-Only CPR demonstrations.
