Join the power movement as a Cryogenics Engineering Intern The Cryogenics team is an enthusiastic group of full-time engineers with backgrounds that span from Aerospace to National Labs to Start Ups. Our goal is to develop cryogenic helium systems that are critical to keeping the HTS magnets within superconducting temperatures. We work in a fast-paced and strategically collaborative setting that allows us to take designs from concept to hardware within extremely short time spans. We are looking for an energetic co-op student to join our team. Within this co-op, you will be working on engineering design and analysis. Program Details: 26 week internship 40-50 hours per week with set hourly salary based on year in school Opportunity in Devens, MA. If an intern is going to be on site, you will be responsible for your own transportation and housing Specific project assignments and required technical skillset will vary based on the team’s existing need. Opportunities available for currently enrolled college students in all levels of schooling from bachelor’s degree to PhD Interns must be authorized to work in the United States for any employer

Requirements

  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
  • Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Dedication to safety to mitigate industrial hazards that may include heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, and cryogenics

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred majors include Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical/Software Engineering, and Computer Science
  • Enthusiasm to learn (design and engineering company processes) and collaborate in a group setting
  • Exposure to fluid dynamics and thermodynamics
  • Exposure to programmable logic controllers and electrical schematics
  • Exposure to CAD software
  • Exposure to FEA and/or CFD software
  • Interest in entrepreneurship

Responsibilities

  • Lead and cross-coordinate with various stakeholders on design-build, test, and/or analysis projects, ensuring requirements and key system objectives are being met
  • Develop test plans for cryogenics equipment and subsystems
  • Identify, purchase, and install hardware to be used in setting up or fixing test configurations
  • Run testing of industrial-scale cryogenics equipment and subsystems
  • Analyze data from testing industrial-scale cryogenics equipment and subsystems
