About The Position

First Merchants is seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic college students for our 12-week paid summer internship program. This program offers hands-on experience in the financial services industry, work on meaningful projects that impact the business, mentorship from experienced professionals, relationship building with leaders across the organization, and participation in networking and development events. Interns will also participate in a coordinated community service project and present their accomplishments and key learnings to senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Be a full-time Bachelor (or higher) degree-seeking student at an accredited college or university.
  • Be available to work 40 hours per week from May 17th - August 6th, 2027.
  • Be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Have demonstrated interest in the industry and/or specific area of interest.
  • Possess a GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Be able and willing to travel periodically throughout the First Merchants footprint, if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Support volunteer engagement campaigns, financial wellness initiatives, and community partnerships.
  • Assist with planning and logistics for the 2026 CSR Colloquium, and regional service events.
  • Help manage internal communications, social media content, and impact storytelling.
  • Compile, clean, and validate data for CRA performance tracking.
  • Assist with documentation and reporting for CRA exam readiness.
  • Conduct research on CRA-eligible organizations and community needs.
  • Support outreach and reporting for affordable housing initiatives.
  • Assist with data collection and impact summaries for homeownership programs.
  • Research small business development trends and community lending opportunities.
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to Community Business Bankers.
  • Support engagement with nonprofit partners and economic development organizations.
  • Data input, validation, and visual storytelling for Community Impact Dashboard.
  • Usage analysis, reporting, and support ticket tracking for System/Platform Optimization.
  • Content development and digital resource support for Financial Wellness Toolkit.
  • Aggregating and organizing data for internal and external reporting for CRA Data Compilation.
  • Coordinating regional service events and tracking participation for Volunteer Campaigns.
