About The Position

The Corporate Communications department educates and informs Publix associates about Publix’s strategy, policies, products, programs, events, accomplishments and initiatives that affect them and/or our customers. They develop and execute strategic communications plans and promote Publix’s strategy through storytelling, facilitate change by reinforcing behaviors consistent with Publix’s strategy and brands, and increase associate buy-in by affecting the hearts and minds of the audience(s). This department is essential to creating buy-in internally and externally with new and changing information as well as building loyalty and support for Publix from associates, customers and the communities we serve. Within the department, the intern will have several responsibilities.

Requirements

  • must be an actively enrolled student not graduating prior to the start of the Summer Internship Program in May; or if graduating from a bachelor's degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester; or if graduating from a master’s degree program prior to the start of the internship, starting a graduate degree program in the upcoming summer or fall semester)
  • must be pursuing a bachelor’s or graduate degree in public relations, journalism, communications, marketing, English, advertising, mass communications, information systems, or related field of study and be a current junior or above (rising senior or above as of the program start in Summer 2026) or a graduate student
  • basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • basic knowledge of Microsoft 365: SharePoint (ex. libraries, views, lists)
  • basic knowledge of metadata concepts (columns, tags, choice lists)
  • ability to organize assets, using naming conventions and tagging
  • ability to write step-by-step guides in a clear and concise manner and the ability to edit and proofread communications accurately
  • ability to be consistent and innovative
  • ability to work with little supervision
  • ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • must be detail-oriented with a quality-control mindset and motivated, self-starter

Responsibilities

  • create consistency of metadata across our department SharePoint sites
  • improve usability across our department SharePoint sites
  • organize photos in our SharePoint site
  • develop master distribution lists for common print projects like posters
  • document processes to support ongoing maintenance.
