About The Position

Mill Creek Residential offers internship opportunities designed to enhance candidates' educational components and prior experiences. These internships provide various learning opportunities, job training, and exposure to leading industry practices, processes, project management software, and the culture of an industry leader. Internships can be based in the field, the office, or a combination of both, depending on the candidate's background and interests.

Requirements

  • Current or recent enrollment in an educational program with a focus on real estate development, construction management and support services, architecture or applicable engineering and software management fields.

Responsibilities

  • Complete required online training programs, including compliance and risk management.
  • Understand Mill Creek’s business model and the role of the Construction function.
  • Become familiar with tools and resources available to the workgroup.
  • Assist experienced field personnel with day-to-day site activities and subcontractor management.
  • Learn duties related to supervising subcontractors, material deliveries, punch carpenters, and laborers.
  • Gain fluency in project drawings, shop drawings, and manufacturer material sheets.
  • Assist with the execution of site staging and logistic plans.
  • Learn and assist with project scheduling creation and implementation.
  • Learn and assist with daily manpower reporting, safety inspections, and design team field reports.
  • Assist with scheduling required jurisdictional inspections and testing.
  • Learn to identify, analyze, and recommend mitigation for potential project risks (safety, subcontractor issues, site conditions, scheduling, change orders, document conflicts).
  • Learn Mill Creek quality standards.
  • Assist with preparing punch lists and reviewing work completion prior to inspection and acceptance.
  • Assist experienced office personnel with project budgets and cost forecasting.
  • Assist with contracting and purchasing of materials and services.
  • Assist with processing design information, product materials, and related questions.
  • Assist with periodic reporting and project updates for lenders and project owners.
  • Learn and assist in maintaining project schedules using Microsoft Project and/or Primavera.
  • Gain an understanding of the Request For Information (RFI) process, submittals, and shop drawings.
  • Learn and assist with the preparation and execution of Mill Creek’s 5-Star Quality Program.
  • Learn and assist with the preparation and review of subcontractor scope of work.
  • Learn and assist with the preparation of a site utilization plan.
  • Gain an understanding of subcontractors’ scope of work and assist with bid package development.
  • Learn pricing models used to establish costs and budgets for projects.
  • Learn how Project Management and Field teams collaborate for successful project execution.
  • Learn and assist with creating and managing subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and change orders.
  • Learn and assist with weekly/monthly invoice processing.
  • Learn and assist with maintaining monthly project reviews and costs reports.
  • Assist with tracking subcontractor requirements.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
