About The Position

This internship/co-op position in the Production/Operations Department offers a unique opportunity to learn the intricacies of Project Management within the construction industry. Interns will shadow experienced professionals, including Project Managers and Superintendents, to understand project workflows and sequences. They will actively participate in client and subcontractor coordination meetings, assist with field quality control, and help expedite material deliveries. The role involves supporting short-range scheduling, tracking work orders and change orders, and managing various project logs. Interns will also gain exposure to safety reviews, post-bid processes, and IMC's innovative technology solutions. This position provides comprehensive exposure to all aspects of the construction phase with direct access to a wide range of experienced professionals and continuous learning opportunities through IMC's online platform.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a degree in a relevant field (e.g., Construction Management, Engineering, Business).
  • Strong interest in learning project management in the construction industry.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and software.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous internship or co-op experience in construction or a related field.
  • Familiarity with construction management software (Procore, P6, SmartSheet, Sage300).
  • Understanding of construction safety principles and OSHA guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Shadow IMC Project Managers and Superintendents to learn the flow and sequence of Project Management on a construction project.
  • Attend and participate in jobsite Client and Subcontractor coordination meetings.
  • Assist project team with the development, tracking, and closure of field quality control issues.
  • Assist with the expediting of timely material deliveries to jobsites by working closely with the Subcontractors.
  • Assist with short-range scheduling by confirming manpower, material deliveries, or supplier availability for a job site.
  • Assist the team with tracking of field work orders, changes, change order requests, and any incident that may be considered a cost event.
  • Prepare, expedite, and monitor logs for tracking shop drawings, submittals, requests for information, change orders, material delivery logs and other as determined necessary for a successful project.
  • Assist with proactively obtaining punch list and follow-up on completion of work.
  • Participate in meetings and gain exposure to post-bid, buyout, prequalification’s and CCIP requirements, coordination, subcontractor, staff, and scheduling.
  • Shadow the team Safety Associate to assist with monthly site safety reviews of current project safety conditions and OSHA guidelines.
  • Learn all aspects of the construction phase while having unlimited access to Project Managers, MEP Project Managers, Superintendents, Schedulers, Safety Associates, and the Vice President of Production.
  • Gain exposure to IMC’S innovative technology solutions such as AR/VR, Drones, and Assemble.
  • Be exposed to software applications such as Procore, P6, SmartSheet, Sage300, and more.
  • Have 24-7 access to IMC’s online Learning and Development Platform to strengthen skills in a variety of subjects.
