Requirements

  • 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year student pursuing Civil Engineering or a related field
  • Understanding of engineering principles and transportation/traffic concepts
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with teams and the public
  • Comfortable balancing office work with outdoor field assignments
  • Valid Indiana Driver's License (if operating City vehicles)
  • Familiarity with drafting/design or engineering software
  • Data collection and analysis skills
  • Working knowledge of geometry, trigonometry, and applied math
  • Ability to read plans, diagrams, and technical documents

Responsibilities

  • Assist with transportation and traffic engineering projects including planning, design, and field support
  • Collect and analyze traffic data, evaluate safety concerns, and recommend improvements
  • Support drafting, surveying, inspections, and quantity take-offs
  • Help prepare project plans, specifications, and cost estimates
  • Collaborate with engineers, contractors, and community partners to keep projects moving safely and efficiently
