About The Position

Under direction, performs routine work involved in the construction/maintenance/service of public/municipal infrastructure. May be required to operate, check, service, and make minor repairs to trucks and other maintenance/construction/service equipment; does other related duties as required The examples of work for this title are for illustrative purposes only. Requirements

  • One (1) year of experience in the construction/maintenance/service/repair of public infrastructure or similar construction maintenance work
  • New Jersey CDL Class B license (or be able to acquire within six months of hire)
  • Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English sufficiently to perform duties of the position
  • Ability to understand, remember and carry out oral/written direction
  • Ability to learn quickly from oral/written directions and from demonstrations
  • Ability to work and interact safely, courteously, and harmoniously with coworkers as well as the public
  • Ability to operate and skillfully use hand tools, power tools and power equipment
  • Ability to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the department
  • Ability to work for long periods in emergency situations and remain on the job until all repairs/service has been completed

Nice To Haves

  • New Jersey CDL Class A License a plus
  • Tanker endorsement a plus

Responsibilities

  • Installs, maintains, services, and repairs street signs, roadways, perking meters, boardwalk, beach walkways, parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, buildings, structures, sidewalks storm drains.
  • Operates, checks, services, and makes minor repairs to trucks, tractors, loaders, compressors, mowers, trimmers, chain saws, and other construction/maintenance/service power equipment.
  • Will be required to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the department.
