About The Position

This internship offers a backend engineer the opportunity to help design, build, and scale core backend services for Capital One Canada. The role involves writing production-level backend code for systems that handle high traffic, adhere to strict regulatory rules, and manage large data transformations. Interns will contribute to building new API features, developing automated tests, and enhancing deployment pipelines. The position provides hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, ETL processes, and modern deployment practices, with collaboration alongside engineers, product managers, and architects. Senior team members will offer technical guidance and mentorship.

Requirements

Will obtain a Bachelor’s degree or higher from December 2026 or later.
Familiarity with backend application development and APIs.
Good communication, presentation, and writing skills.
Good understanding of testing fundamentals.
Able to work within a team setting and actively participate in team discussions.

Nice To Haves

Experience with backend languages such as Java, TypeScript, or Python.
Experience with version control technology (Git).
