About The Position

The Applied AI & Data Science Intern will be utilized in various departments within ARUP Laboratories. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work on machine learning and AI projects in areas such as digital pathology, flow cytometry, next generation sequencing, and clinical lab informatics. The intern will work closely with a senior data scientist mentor, attend weekly meetings and standups, and present their final product or analysis to a diverse group of professionals at the end of the internship. Requirements

  • Proficiency with Python data analysis tools
  • Data visualization skills
  • Familiarity with development of AI (LLM-based) agents
  • Basic concepts of laboratory information science
  • Ability to stoop, bend at the waist, and extend hands/arms
  • Ability to occasionally move between work sites and inside the office
  • Ability to frequently and effectively communicate with others
  • Ability to work in a biohazard laboratory environment requiring PPE
  • Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects
  • Fine motor control for typing and working with fingers
  • Close, far, and peripheral visual acuity
