About The Position

The AI Solutions Engineer Intern will support the AI team in prototyping, testing, and delivering practical artificial intelligence solutions that help safely embed AI into business workflows across the Bank.

Requirements

  • The internship will run for Summer of 2027 beginning mid-May and ending early August.
  • Able to work a 40-hour work week, Monday-Friday, between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.
  • Must reside local to the St. Louis, MO, Effingham, IL, or Rockford, IL area and report to the assigned Midland office.
  • Enrolled in a Computer Science, Engineering, Data/Analytics, Information Systems, or related degree program at a college or university with at least 2 years completed.
  • Works well in team environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Teams.
  • Demonstrates ability to learn and use new software and programs.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, technical curiosity, and some experience with software development or data.
  • Ability to learn quickly, experiment, and turn ideas into working solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Python, APIs, SQL, cloud technologies, or GenAI tools is preferred.
  • Exposure to large language models (LLMs), AI agents, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or application development is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Own or meaningfully contribute to at least one production-focused AI project from idea through delivery.
  • Assist with building AI agents and applications that support practical business use cases across the Bank.
  • Connect enterprise data and systems through APIs, Model Context Protocol (MCP), or other integration methods as appropriate.
  • Contribute to enhancements of the Midland AI platform and development of workflow automations.
  • Test emerging AI models and capabilities and help measure solution adoption and business impact.
  • Collaborate with AI and engineering team members and business partners across the Bank while applying appropriate governance, security, and testing practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulations including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act (BSA).
