Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years experience in commercial lines underwriting
  • Post-secondary education in a related field is required
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with product development and developing underwriting guidelines
  • Strong product knowledge and a thorough understanding of insurance policy wordings and the ability to make sound business decisions based on those wordings
  • Excellent analytical skills and decision-making skills
  • A beginner to intermediate level of English is required in addition to French, as this role involves communicating, both verbally and in writing, with our clients, partners, and other Echelon Insurance teams across the country.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Able to effectively set priorities to meet deadlines with a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent customer service skills and the ability to establish professional relationships

Nice To Haves

  • Working towards CIP, FCIP or CRM designation is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Underwrites and prices new business applications, endorsements and renewals on commercial lines policies within a set binding authority to grow and maintain a profitable portfolio.
  • Maintain in-force policies and ensure all policies are issued within service standards with the appropriate wordings, schedules, and certificates attached
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationship with brokers by providing exceptional customer service
  • Work collaboratively to support broker, claims, pricing and accounting inquires
  • Provide exceptional customer service by answering telephone inquiries, making outgoing calls, respond to emails and/or faxes as may be required
  • Track and produce daily, weekly and monthly production activity reports
  • Assist in monthly business activity reporting
  • Willingness to travel as some travel may be required
  • Other duties as assigned
