ISL is seeking a passionate and enthusiastic Intermediate Technologist or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) to join their team in Nanaimo or Courtenay. Requirements

  • Diploma in Civil Engineering or Engineering Design Technology; OR a Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registration (or eligibility for registration) as an AScT with ASTTBC or as an EIT with EGBC.
  • 3+ years of experience in municipal or transportation engineering related fields.
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D / AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of the design process.

Nice To Haves

  • Transportation and/or municipal engineering design experience.
  • Experience with MMCD.
  • Experience in large and small-scale projects.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with internal and external project team members and stakeholders.
  • Providing design and construction services for a variety of project types across Vancouver Island.
  • Coordinating with clients, contractors, and third-party stakeholders to facilitate project requirements.
  • Preparing engineering base plans, designs, drawings, and cost estimates for municipal engineering projects (roadworks, water and wastewater, and storm water management).
  • Developing concepts and designs using Civil 3D, CAD, and other computer-aided drafting programs.
  • Producing design calculations and analysis for storm water and sanitary sewer collection systems.
  • Assisting in preparing engineering and construction tender documents and contracts.
  • Inspecting construction of municipal engineering projects.
  • Providing input into project budgeting and scheduling.
