About The Position

A new opportunity awaits for an Intermediate Construction Materials Field Technician based in our London, Ontario office. This role lets you grow your technical capabilities in the field, collaborating with skilled professionals across a global organization. You’ll be at the forefront of shaping the safety, reliability, and resilience of the built environment across commercial, industrial, institutional, and infrastructure projects.

Requirements

  • Experience in materials testing, inspection, and/or laboratory environments, or relevant post‑secondary technical training.
  • Diploma or technical certification in Civil Engineering Technology or related discipline.
  • Comfort working independently on active construction sites and in laboratory settings.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities in fast‑paced environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and familiarity with field/lab testing equipment.
  • Valid driver’s licence with a clear driver’s abstract.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions, travel for out‑of‑town assignments, and accommodate overtime, including nights and weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • Eligibility or registration with OACETT or PEO is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) testing on soils, concrete, aggregates, and asphalt.
  • Conduct soil and asphalt compaction testing to ensure compliance with CSA, CCIL, and ASTM standards.
  • Complete subgrade and footing inspections to verify specifications and support key project decisions.
  • Collect, analyze, and document samples with precision, delivering accurate and timely results.
  • Collaborate with engineers and project managers to troubleshoot and resolve field challenges.
  • Maintain and calibrate testing equipment to ensure consistent accuracy.
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture through adherence to WSP’s field and lab Health & Safety programs.
  • Pursue and maintain CCIL certification to deepen your expertise.
