About The Position

WSP's RPM team is one of the most established and exciting teams in Canada, providing contaminated site program management services for over 15 years. The team consists of environmental technicians, project coordinators, project managers, technical experts, and qualified professionals. They specialize in health and safety, Phase I/II ESAs, risk assessment, and remediation, taking on major Canadian projects. WSP has a new opportunity for a Technical Report Author to join the Remediation Program Management team based in British Columbia. This role involves evaluating risk and advising on contaminated sites impacted by hydrocarbons. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with strong time management and communication skills.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field (Geoscience and/or Engineering).
  • 4 to 6 years of direct experience in contaminated site assessments, site monitoring and remediation.
  • Working knowledge of the BC Contaminated Sites Regulation and relevant Protocols and Technical Guidance documents.
  • Experience with statistical analysis using common analytical software.
  • Strong technical writing skills.
  • Sound understanding of the need for health and safety procedures in the workplace and possess a safety conscious attitude.
  • Ability to work patiently with and help train less experienced team members.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and key judgment skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the oil and gas sector will be an asset.
  • More extensive experience with respect to soil and groundwater monitoring programs, Phase I and II environmental site assessments, site remediation, provincial Contaminated Site checklists, forms and protocols.
  • Related field experience.

Responsibilities

  • Participation in a team environment, working closely with and supporting Project Managers and Field Technicians.
  • Produce high quality written technical reports in support of large and small environmental site assessment, monitoring and remediation projects.
  • Preparation of Site closure documentation (detailed site investigations, regulatory forms).
  • QA/QC laboratory data then generate tables.
  • Compare the results to site-specific regulatory guidelines and/or protocols for reporting needs for the various Project Coordinators, Project Managers and Project Directors.
  • Generate and QA/QC regulatory checklists, forms and other documents in support of reporting requirements to meet the site-specific project needs of provincial Contaminated Site Regulations, protocols and/or Guidelines.
  • Create, execute and revise work plans to meet Project Manager’s needs.
