About The Position

The Intermediate Network Administrator installs, maintains, and administers Gordon Food Service network facilities and services. They will perform 2nd and 3rd level support in all areas where the Network domain exists and communicate effectively to and with all other groups that are impacted or that impact offered Network services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or related field required.
  • One to three years previous network administration and/or network support experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience required.
  • Must have good innovation, creativity, problem solving, negotiating, and teamwork skills.
  • Must have good time management, organizational, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must display good presentation, change and conflict management, facilitation, and collaboration abilities.

  • Experience in WAN and LAN network activities
  • RF maintenance and support experience
  • Familiarity with Cisco switch and routers is required.
  • Experience with network monitoring applications.
  • Familiarity with firewalls.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of load balancers is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts WAN and LAN Design & Configuration: Assists Senior Network Administrators with WAN/LAN architecture, design, and hardware configuration.
  • Provides Tier 2/3 Support: Delivers 2nd and 3rd level technical support to resolve complex network, hardware, and connectivity issues across enterprise facilities.
  • Deploys Network Hardware: Configures, racks, and installs network equipment—including Cisco switches, wireless access points, routers, and controllers at corporate facilities.
  • Oversees Vendors & Contractors: Supervises low-voltage cabling contractors and external partners during physical installations, maintenance windows, and site cutovers.
  • Maintains Wireless & RF Infrastructure: Performs RF maintenance, supports wireless environments (Cisco WLC, Catalyst), and assists with wireless surveys and diagnostic testing.
  • Monitors Network Health: Utilizes network monitoring, performance, and diagnostic tools to ensure optimal uptime and connectivity
  • Maintains Documentation & Asset Records: Reviews CAD drawings, updates network topology diagrams, and tracks hardware assets/workflows in Jira, Google Drive, and Autodesk Build.
  • Establishes Standards: Helps develop, maintain, and enforce hardware standards and operational procedures across facility network environments.
  • Manages Firmware & Lifecycle: Tracks and applies software/firmware updates for managed network devices.
  • Participates in On-Call Rotation: On-call participation is expected. Team assignments will drive the schedule, generally up to one shift per week.
  • Other Duties: Performs additional technical consulting and responsibilities as assigned.
