About The Position

Join WSP’s Canada Resources team (Industrial & Mining) as an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer, supporting clients across Canada. Based in the greater Montréal area, you will lead mechanical engineering for major industrial projects in sectors such as aluminum, pulp and paper, aerospace, and mining. Your role will involve guiding design delivery, mentoring junior engineers and technicians, and ensuring high-quality execution on complex projects that shape Québec’s industrial landscape.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent training.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering for industrial or mining projects.
  • Member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
  • Genuine interest in mentoring and sharing knowledge with junior team members.
  • Strong rigor, initiative, and attention to detail, with a collaborative mindset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in French.
  • ASP Construction safety card.
  • Valid driver’s licence.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in consulting engineering is considered an asset.
  • English is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver mechanical engineering on large‑scale industrial projects across Québec, from concept through detailed design and construction support.
  • Prepare and/or supervise the development of plans, specifications, and details for mechanical, industrial, mining, and institutional projects.
  • Produce and validate engineering calculations to support equipment selection, layouts, and detailed design.
  • Perform quantity take‑offs and support the preparation of estimates and budget documentation.
  • Oversee the preparation of tender documents, technical specifications, and other engineering documents.
  • Maintain regular contact with clients to clarify needs, present technical concepts, and communicate study results and design choices.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers, technicians, and drafters assigned to projects.
  • Ensure quality control of all mechanical discipline deliverables and support adherence to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Support project managers as needed and contribute to continuous improvement in design and delivery methods.
