About The Position

An industry-leading architectural engineering firm headquartered in New York City with nationwide reach is seeking an effective Mechanical Designer-Engineer to serve as a Lead Engineer on assigned projects. The firm specializes in designing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection building systems, and emphasizes accountability, transparency, engineering excellence, and operational clarity.

The role supports retail, commercial, hospitality, and restaurant projects and follows a hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days at home.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of experience as a mechanical designer-engineer at engineering consultancies.
• Proven experience in mechanical engineering.
• Familiarity with relevant codes, including IMC, IECC, and ASHRAE 90.1.
• Ability to read and implement mechanical design documentation.
• Proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.
• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) degree required.

Nice To Haves

• EIT certification; desired but not required.
• Ambition for career advancement and being on track to obtain a license.
• Knowledge of plumbing design; desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a Lead Mechanical Engineer on assigned projects.
• Design and draft mechanical technical documentation using Revit MEP and AutoCAD.
• Perform mechanical load calculations, ventilation calculations, and equipment sizing.
• Perform emergency compliance using Comcheck.
• Conduct full MEP site surveys and prepare reports.
• Review submittals and shop drawings.
