Performs specimen processing and moderate complexity laboratory testing following prescribed training and SOPs complying with the laboratory QA/QC program. Is prompt for work and seeks support and guidance if needed regarding absenteeism. This position is located at the Fred Hutch South Lake Union campus at 825 Eastlake Ave E., Seattle WA 98109. 1.0 FTE- Full time - Variable 8 hour shift dependent on lab needs, M-F 0530 to 2230 and Sat-Sun/Holidays 0600-1830

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Proficiency with email, spreadsheets, and word processing.
  • Ability to communicate verbally in person, on the phone, and in writing in a clear, concise, and professional manner.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a high pressure, time-sensitive, and complex healthcare environment.
  • Ability to identify and triage issues appropriately.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Must be able to differentiate between colors and pass a standardized color vision screen to perform this role

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in chemical, biological, or physical science
  • Clinical or research lab experience preferred
  • experience in a healthcare setting preferred

Responsibilities

  • Handle biological specimens performing processing and clinical assays following the SOP.
  • Operates analytical instruments.
  • Performs maintenance, calibrations, and QC consulting a CLT/CT as needed.
  • Under the supervision of a CLT/CT, releases results following the SOP.
