About The Position

Arcadis is seeking an Intermediate Geotechnical Engineer to join their growing Geotechnics team in Western Canada, based in Vancouver. This role involves working under senior technical leads and project managers on multi-discipline infrastructure projects, including roads, transit, and ports/marine sectors. The position offers exposure to large-scale assignments, opportunities for technical and consulting advancement, and the chance to mentor junior staff, build client relationships, and utilize Arcadis's national and global resources.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Geotechnical, Civil or Geological Engineering.
Eligible for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in British Columbia (or already registered) or willing to pursue registration.
Typically 3-8 years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering consultancy or infrastructure design and delivery, with some exposure to transportation, transit, ports/marine or heavy civil sectors.
Experience interpreting geotechnical investigations and preparing geotechnical interpretative reports and design reports.
Knowledge of geotechnical design of foundations, retaining structures, slopes, earthworks and ground improvement.
Proficiency with geotechnical and design software (e.g., GeoStudio Suite, PLAXIS, Slide, CPeTiT, CLiq, LiqSV, Settle3, LPile / APile / RS Pile or equivalent), and with technical report writing.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with ability to convey technical findings clearly.
Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and collaborative skills.
A positive and proactive attitude with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multi-discipline team.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and learn new technical domains.
Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to sites within Western Canada as required.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in geotechnical engineering or related discipline.
Familiarity with seismic, liquefaction or numerical modelling.

Responsibilities

Assist in planning and executing geotechnical site investigations, including mobilization, field data collection, subcontractor coordination, and logging of geotechnical data.
Conduct engineering analyses and design work under supervision for projects involving foundation systems, retaining structures, slopes and embankments, excavations and tunnels, and ground improvement measures.
Interpret soil, rock, and groundwater conditions to produce geotechnical recommendations and parameters for design and construction.
Prepare and review technical deliverables such as geotechnical interpretative reports, design reports, technical memoranda, calculations, drawings, and cost estimates.
Provide construction support services, including reviewing contractor submissions, conducting site observations, assessing changed conditions, and collaborating with construction teams and clients.
Participate in multi-discipline project teams, supporting scope, schedule, and budget activities, and coordinating with other engineering disciplines and internal teams.
Assist in client engagements by developing proposals, work plans, budgets, and preparing submission materials.
Support mentoring and knowledge sharing with junior engineers and technologists.
Stay current with industry best practices, emerging technologies, relevant codes, and digital delivery methods.
Contribute to process improvements within the Geotechnics practice.
